Art reposting!

I became aware that I never posted the two last pieces I did for [info]metamorfic_moon here on my own journal! So without further ado please find:

Title: Choir
Artist: [info]hrymfaxe
Rating & Warnings: G and None
Prompt: Choir
Medium: Watercolour
Summary: After beating a retreat into the choir of a church Tonks and Remus disagree on their future strategy...
Artist's Notes: Two challenges here for me: the extreme perspective and creating texture and values with watercolour. This is not what I had decided on doing for this challenge, though it was an initial idea. But I fell ill and was unable to complete the other project. Thank merlin for back-up plans. ;)

Title: Fugitives
Artist: [info]hrymfaxe
Rating & Warnings: PG13, for post fighting clean-up, nothing graphic.
Prompts:

I awake to see that no-one is free
We're all fugitives
Look at the way we live
Down here, I cannot sleep form fear, no

"Spies" by Coldplay

And "summer ball"

Medium: Watercolour and ink
Summary: What should have been a fun day, ends in weariness and doubt.
Artist's Notes: Still playing with watercolours. And backgrounds. Please bear with me.
Fugitives )

And I submitted a few of the latest art pieces I've done for this great idea:

It's a fest of sorts, where artist submit art as prompts for writers to write stories to and vice versa. :D So if you have a story or a drawing that you would like to see illustrated or ficcified get ye over there! I already see a few stories that are very inspiring.

Sirius home
I suspect most of you on the flist have already seen these paintings and drawings from the [info]bigbangblackout Sirius party, but I thought it would be nice to have them archived here on my own lj too. Many thanks to the BBB mods for all their hard work on getting so many Sirius stories and art! You can find them all linked on the community lj page. :D

Formalities: There are a lot of images under the cut, download time may be long. The highest rating is PG13. Please click pictures to enlarge. :D

I did art for two different stories:

The archive is live at [info]bigbangblackout!!! So much Sirius goodness. Go forth and read. :D And don't forget to leave a word to authors and artists, who worked so hard to bang Sirius.

ETA: Here are the links to the two wonderful stories I illustrated: (but please go wonder at the awesome that is the table of contents on the main site anyway ;))

Author: [info]chokolattejedi
Title: The Edge of Sanity
Rating: NC-17 for violence and a smidge of sex
Summary: Sirius is thrown in Azkaban after confronting Peter about the deaths of the Potters. When the Dementors come for him, he starts reliving the worst moments of his life; from his childhood memories, to his Hogwarts escapades, to his time as an Auror, Sirius journeys through the best and the worst parts of his subconscious.
Warnings: LOTS of character death and blood and hurt and such. And a mild slash sex scene. Small deviations from canon in terms of timeline and creating students to fill out Sirius's Hogwarts years.

And

Author: [info]duck_or_rabbit
Title: Home
Rating: R
Pairing(s): James Potter/Regulus Black, implied Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
Characters: Sirius Black, Regulus Black, Walburga Black, James Potter, Mr Potter, Mrs Potter, Peter Pettigrew
Summary: Sirius Black found his friends pulling away from him after Year Six at Hogwarts. As far back as he could remember, Sirius' sense of family had been sustained by his friends. This weekend is full of visits to the family, and tonight is no exception. I'm off to my parents' in a little while to enjoy what looks like one of the last really nice days of summer for a while... Please cross your fingers that the rain will stay away tomorrow, or that will be the fourth (out of five) motorcycle lessons to be completed while rained upon. That should tell you something about the summer we have had so far. *glares*

Anyway, I just thought I'd share a drawing I did a while ago for the Queen's Thief Series by Megan Whalen Turner. It's spoilerish if you want to read the series, so I'm putting it below a cut, in case you want to avoid it. ;)

Title: Regaining balance
Characters: Eugenides
Rating: PG
Warnings: Some nudity (torso), and spoilers for Queen of Attolia.
Summary: After certain events, Gen needs to relearn some skills.
Artist's Notes: Made with ink and watercolours. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

But first! Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful birthday greetings. I had a really great day, the sun was shining and we had icecream in the garden. :D

I was so incredibly lucky to get a birthday story from the incomparable [info]ladybracknell featuring Sirus, the other Marauders, Rosmerta and motorcycles. It doesn't get much better than that! It's called Velocity Girl, and you can find it here. I encourage you all to go read it, it's perfectly wonderful and awkward. Just like Sirius. :D

And reading this story reminded me how long it has been since I devoted any spotlight to Sirius. A situation to be immediately remedied! Luckily the very same [info]ladybracknell left me some great prompts in the drawble meme, ages ago: Sirius/Lily and snow.

Title: Frozen
Media: Pencil and watercolours
Warning: None!
Artist's notes: Loads of experimentation. I had fun, and I hope you enjoy.
Drawing time: 5 hours

It's so long ago, that back then the prompt snow was still very in season.... )

Medium: Pencils, ink and watercolour.
Summary: It's 1981, and things are starting to fall apart for members of The Order of the Phoenix.
Artist's Notes: Thank you for an amazing challenge, that let me stretch my artistic muscles like never before. My little idea turned into a 12-page graphic novel!! The title comes from a poem by Norbert Capek.

B2MeM ink drawings. Prompt 15 and 17

B2MeM sketch dump! Days 1-9

Dream kiss
March is Back 2 Middle-earth Month and the [info]silwritersguild is providing anyone willing with a prompt a day to inspire the Tolkien muses out of the woodwork. :D I have decided to use it as an opportunity to do a study of Mablung of Doriath, about whom "canon" has preciously little to say, so my imagination can run free for most of the time. And also, he met or could conceivably have met nearly every important character in Middle Earth until the fall of Doriath. So there are plenty of opportunities to widen the horizon. With so many prompts and so little time to complete them in, I can only offer you sketches, I'm afraid. But I think some of these are ideas are pretty cool, so I may convert them into proper drawings/paintings when time allows.

Artist's notes: I was so happy to get prompts for Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and especially for my two favourite characters!! :D I hope you like your drawble [info]bratanimus!

Drawble meme #1 of 7: Beleg for Binka

  • Jan. 12th, 2009 at 10:35 PM
Dream kiss
In the drawble meme, [info]binkaslibrary asked for Beleg and left me free to choose the setting.

Title: Beleg and the bear
Media: Mechanical pencil
Warning: Nudity (nothing frontal), and hunting. (who is hunted and who is hunter is, perhaps, questionable in this very moment)
Artist's notes: We all agree that the elves who woke at Cuivienen didn't wear clothes right? Right? ;) Anyway. Legend has it that Beleg's legendary bow was strung with bear sinew. Here is the scene that went before.

Paintings and busy weekend

Meta feather
In a few hours I'm leaving for a friend's birthday and immediately after that I'll go to my parent's because tomorrow my mother is having her birthday! It should all be good fun. We'll making honey-cake houses tomorrow... No we never grow up. ;)

Anyway, my mother asked me to do some small drawings/paintings for her birthday and I was happy to comply. And they turned out rather well, so I though I would share:

They are small: 10x15 cm, and done with sepia ink and watercolours. They were good fun to do once I finally figured out what I wanted to paint. Plus they were an excuse to go out and buy more paint... *headdesk*

And I have one final piece to show you. This was a birthday gift to my good friend [info]bratanimus, who had her birthday last month. I couldn't show it here because the original was on its way to her, and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. ;) But now that I know it has safely arrived I would like to share it with you all. This is Morpheus, Daniel and Matthew from Neil Gaiman's Sandman series:

This is done in ink (lots and lots of ink!), pencil and watercolour. It is A3 size (30x40 cm) in RL.

Thanks for looking, I hope you all have a nice weekend!

Drawing meme #7.. well sort of.

  • Nov. 16th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
Gasp!
Way back when I announced this meme, I promised [info]shimotsuki a drawble.. I have been terribly lax about getting it done, and I'm really sorry about that! And I wish I could say I had done it now, but alas. However, I come bearing a different gift, because as I sat down yesterday to start the drawble she asked for, I suddenly remembered a scene from one of her fics that I have always wanted to do, and then the muse carried me away.

Watercolour experiment

  • Nov. 1st, 2008 at 3:26 PM
Celegorm
I saw a fun demo the other day for doing negative painting with watercolours (negative as in painting around what is actually the main focus of interest, thus bringing it forward) - the demo was done with geometric figures, but I thought it would be fun to do with people, or more precisely, leaping men! At the very least partly inspired by a desire to do a drawing/painting of the dance of the deer as used by [info]heartofoshun in one of her stories at one point, I did this:

It is not quite where I would like it to be - I want darker colours (but that at least is the right way to go with watercolours: from light to dark. It would be worse if it was the other way around), but I do like it all the same, and I wanted to share this with you before I'm off to a family birthday, in a few hours.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend! Besides this birthday, I have nothing planned at all, which is very exciting!

This time for [info]heartofoshun , who requested Beleg and gave me Tirion (a city) as a prompt. Now I'm notoriously good at avoiding drawing backgrounds, but here I could not find a way around it. All the same I'm afraid you get only the barest bones of one, Oshun! ;) Though I may want to revisit this one day and fill in the blanks...

Beleg in Tirion )

In RL news I had a rather horrible experience today which involved body parts that do not usually come up in polite conversation, which is of course why I bring it up here. ;)

What a day!

Death Bacholo
Two of my favourite flisters have their birthday today! [info]mrstater, who is the heart and soul of the R/T community, and like our own private Molly Weasley makes sure that we are all comfortable and well fed (with fic instead of cake, but still ;)) and [info]dawn_felagund who opened her home to me this summer and is a constant source of inspiration to me. I come bearing a gift that I threathened Dawn with while I was there. It is a two-page comic inspired by her story Sudden Flame. I have taken the liberty of using her own words in the comic, hoping that she won't mind. It enriched the story in an interplay between words and images that I just couldn't resist.

Dawn's AN:
"The sons of Finarfin bore most heavily the brunt of the assault, and Angrod and Aegnor were slain; beside them fell Bregolas lord of the house of Bëor, and a great part of the warriors of that people.
"Of the Ruin of Beleriand and the Fall of Fingolfin"

After his rescue from Dagor Bragollach, Finrod receives a vision of his brothers' fate.

You will probably need to click quite a few times to get the right size as I needed to leave them rather large for the text to make sense. :D

My gift for [info]mrstater will reveal itself at a later point as it is not quite ready to see the light of day at this moment.

For [info]duck_or_rabbitwho requested Harry Potter fandom, Sirius and Rosmerta with the prompt sheet. :D I had all sorts of thoughts to tease you by doing something not even remotely sexy despite your prompt. But what can you do when all your Sirius muse wants to do is take of his clothes, and Rosmerta is smiling encouragingly at him? I hope this will do!

[info]gilpin25 asked for Remus/Tonks and cloak. :D Again, this is perhaps not so imaginative a take on the prompts, but I hope you like it anyway, my dear! On a cold night, there is nothing like snuggling up and sharing his comfortable cloak, right?

And if you wonder why it has taken me quite some time to get this out here, I offer the excuse that I have been busy successfully selling myself on the job market, and can now quit my boring job as an accountant and take a step in a new direction in my working life that is imminently more exciting to me! :D

Now! Onto the last two drawbles. I have not forgotten you - rest assured. :D

[info]binkaslibrary asked for Thingol/Melian and Silmaril. I have seen several of those of you who have done this meme writing drabbles complain that it is hard to stay within 100 words. Well now even I fail at brevity! I had to do a little comic to get the idea in my head down on paper... I also wanted to try out my new watercolours, so I'm afraid you are all now subjected to my experimentation. It didn't go quite as well as I had hoped, but neither was it quite as bad as I had feared. I might redo this idea at some point when I master the media better, because I still think it is quite neat. :D I hope you like it, my dear Binka!

[info]train_lindz asked for Twilight, Edward and Jasper, and shirtless! :D So I bring her the sight that greeted Edward on that fated day when he returned and found some stranger living in HIS room. And incidentally ,it is [info]train_lindz's brithday today, so I hope this counts as a gift? lol! Have a lovely day and many happy returns, sweetie. :D

[info]ladybracknell asked for a drawing from Twilight, featuring Edward/Bella and gave the prompt "nighttime". I'm afraid this is probably very cliché but the idea wouldn't go away, and I got to try out a new technique as well that was mostly succesfull, so all is well. :D I hope you like it, my lady! *bows* (please click it for full view)

Oh and for all those of you who know [info]binkaslibrary , I just met her briefly on chat where she told me that her town is flooded, there is no public transport and the phones are barely working. It may take a while before she is online again, so keep her in your thoughts.

I wish you all the best on this day (and all others!) I hope you have had time today to just sit and enjoy it with your two guys. :D Thank you for your friendship over this past year, and may there be many more!

I wanted to bring you a little something, but I couldn't decide what, until I remembered that you share my love for a certain Denethor - and he willingly showed up to muse me. The idea mutated (as per usual) so I haven't been able to finish it, but I can give you a glimpse of the sketch as it stands now:

Happy birthday to me!! ;)

Yay! It's my birthday - and like a good little hobbit I come bearing a gift to my lovely friends here on lj! (We all know I would rather be an elf, but this is such a cute tradition, that I'll play hobbit for a day if I have to. ;))

I finally finished colouring it (well more or less - I'm sure I can endlessly tweak this!) As you may notice, this is a photo.. I have done my best in photoshop, but it isn't quite the same as in real life. Just wait til  I get it scanned!! I made the size of this quite large in the hope that you can read the text.

I have finished a page!! Yay! And with [info]nanomango starting tomorrow, who knows what heigts of efficiency I might rise to?!

Anyway I'm off to celebrate my birthday by listening to my favourite Danish comic artist talking about his work, and later cooking a nice dinner for family and boyfriend! :D

I'm taking a quick break from assembling my new bookcases from Ikea... I'm so tired my hands are practically shaking, but I'm really excited about my new furniture and I want to see it finished tonight! Plus all my books are lying on the floor now.

This morning, while waiting for my mother, I did a quick drawing that I thought you might like to see:

Fandom: Twilight
Characters: Jasper
Rating: R for nudity (though not frontal ;))
Medium: Derwent drawing pencils on coloured paper
Summary: Jasper is in the forest, contemplating climbing a tree... Why is he naked? I'm not entirely sure, but he assured me that that was the case! ;) (And who am I to argue with the muse?)

Oh Sandman of my dreams

  • May. 2nd, 2008 at 7:13 PM
Sandman

I have finished reading the 10 volumes of Sandman by Neil Gaiman. What a journey! I'm sitting now with the stack of them beside me, and I have to turn about half them in at the library on Tuesday at the latest, so I'm hoping that my own books arrive soon from Amazon so I won't have to wait so long to reread all the stories that I liked or that will make even more sense in the huge spiderweb that Gaiman has weaved and that I finally reached the centre of when I read the last book a few days ago. There are so many threads that intersect and influence the flow of each other, that I'm amazed how he could keep track of them in his mind. And how well they were tied off in the end. I'm just flipping through the books I read months ago and I can see how he has used early plotlines to inform later stories. I think I read somewhere that he wrote the Sandman for 9 years - I'm officially impressed!!

The art varied from all right to sublime, and I have had as much pleasure looking at the pictures as I have reading the words. They have informed each other beautifully throughout the saga. I have so much envy for those artists who got to work with Gaiman - interpreting his ideas and putting them to paper. The excerpt from his script at the end of vol 3 was really fun to read. :)

I can only encourage you all to read these stories. Stick it out through some of the weird stuff - Neil is holding your hand and you can trust him. (even if he will dance on your heart and tickle your tears in his infuriating way).

Now [info]bratanimus! What is your favourite scene? Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine. ;) And anyone else who has read these, I would love to hear from. (So you are an expected guest too [info]duck_or_rabbit)

When I woke up this morning the view from my bedroom window looked like this:

No snow during winter, but as soon as we decide that it is spring the good king of frost and snow comes to visit! :)Actually I love snow, so I'm not complaining *- the only problem is that I skipped work yesterday to enjoy the beautiful weather, and I really can't do it again today... But they say the cold weather will continue throughout Easter, so maybe I'll get another chance.

And also I have a piece of art over on the Silmarillion Writer's guild again! You can see it along with the other entries here. I do encourage you to go take a look, but just in case you are lazy here is the drawing I did**:

I have artwork up in several places! For the Silmarillion I have an entry in the Back to Middle earth Month 2008 over at the Silmarillion Writers Guild, where many different people's love and appreciation for Tolkien is honoured during this month. If you haven't visited these pages to drool over artwork and excerpts from stories from some of the best artists and writers out there, I hope you will take the time. The main page for the B2MeM is here, where you can access last weeks themes - and the one with my entry is here.

For Harry Potter I have an entry in The tales of slings, arrows and outrageous fortune challenge over on [info]redandthewolf. My entry is here. This link will also take you to the first drabble I have ever written and made public. ;)

In RL I have been to a recruitment exam in the UN. I think it went well - I certainly did the best I could, so I have no regrets there. However, and perhaps indicative of the efficiency of the UN, I will not receive my result until July at the earliest. And as I'm thouroughly fed up with wasting my skills in my current job, I need to sit down and make a plan so I can get started applying for jobs where I can actually use the education I have laboured to get for a much too large part of my life! I'll need to be very strict with myself because I just know that I would rather draw and read than try to sell my skills to strangers... You are hereby invited to kick me every once in a while, because I know I will deserve it. ;) And now I'm off to.... draw some more I think!

The other day [info]bratanimus mentioned an art meme to me, and suggested I could do it.. So when you have looked, you can either congratulate her or take it out of her hide. ;) I didn't think I would be doing it actually, but seeing as I have now spent the last two nights filling it out, it seems I was very, very wrong. ;) The outline is taken from here. There you can also find links to many, many other (and loads more fun) versions of the meme on dA.

I went to the life drawing class yesterday and there was a really nice model - a young woman who was incredibly bendy and strong enough to hold awkward poses. :) We were around 35 people there, so the room was quite full - and I got the opportunity to check out some very interesting techniques! Yay!

Anyway here are some picks from the evening. There is full nudity under the cut, so don't click if you don't like. ;)

Despite all your kind wishes for a safe journey.. At this time I was supposed to sit on the airplane to Denmark with my friend and her baby daughter... Only I'm still in Uummannaq, because today the clouds are so low, that the plane couldn't land to pick us up from the helicopter. At least we could just go back home to my friends and wait. Now we have been told that we will be flown to Ilulisat in two hours. Hopefully (fingers crossed) we can then fly to Kangerlussuaq tomorrow and catch the plane to Denmark.. However, once you are delayed you get moved to the back of the line, and must wait for available seats. Perhaps the fact that we are travelling with an infant will get us moved ahead. This may seem like slightly bad news, but if we don't get to Ilulisat today, we can't go to Denmark until Monday at the earliest!! O_o! Even in Africa, this didn't happen to me... I would enjoy the experience more, except for the little baby, who didn't need this.

ETA: So, we are cancelled for today... If we are lucky, we can get to Denmark Saturday, but right now we are looking at Monday at the earliest.. Luckily we are still at home and not in some god forsaken airport!

I'm leaving Greenland tomorrow... I have really enjoyed my stay here - everything is so very beautiful, and I have relaxed and taken it all in. I'm already planning to come again another time, preferably when the real winter sets in, and ice covers the sea, so I can go out in a dog sleigh! :) I have tasted seal, reindeer, whale, dried fish, blubber and crowberries. I liked some of it, and found all of it interesting. ;) Anyway, I just have time to show you three photos of an amazing sunrise the other day, before we are off to have our final dinner here north of the arctic circle!

That's it for now. My friend is trying to arrange for me to go sailing with a local - I hope she succeeds, that could be great.

Greenland, here I come!!

Dream kiss
Thursday I'm leaving for Greenland  for two weeks!!! :D I'm visiting a friend of mine who lives there with her boyfriend and newborn daughter. They have been in Greenland for more than two years and I have threatened to visit them all of that time, and now it will finally happen!! I can't wait! I'm going to Uummannaq, which, according to my googling of the subject means "Heart-shaped" due to a heart-shaped mountain. I can't wait to see that either! Just in case you are interested, this is where I'm going. Did I mention I can't wait?

I'll be online every now and then, since I'm staying with my friend and there is no scheduled running about the country to see as much as possible. I'll just take advantage when the weather is nice, and otherwise I'll prop up my feet, and enjoy not having to go to work or meetings or anything.. I look forward to some time to just relax and feast my eyes on beautiful landscapes. Of course the trusty camera is coming with me, and I'll try to post some pictures, so you can become green with envy see what it looks like ! :) And I'll bring my paper, pencils, inks and watercoulours too.. Hmmm, will there be room for clothes, I wonder?

I have received my prompts for the [info]metamorfic_moonHalloween jumble, and a bunny has bit and hard (and I think it might just include all four prompts, go bunny!!). I just hope I'll have enough time to do it justice. :)

Edit: My friend just told me they have snow there already!!! :D I guess I need to find a place for those clothes then....

More ink :)

Still playing around with that ink... Does anybody know of any how-to books on ink drawing, or tutorials on the internet? I'm sort of fumbling around in the dark, and though that is enjoyable, because the results are rather surprising, it would be nice to have some guidance! :)

Anyway -

Happy Birthday [info]dawn_felagund and [info]mrstater!!

I can't believe that your birthdays are the same day!! And that I somehow had the idea that I should make both of you a birthday present.. But you have both been instrumental in making me feel welcome in the lj-world, so perhaps it is rather fitting! :) Both drawings are inspired by stories you have written. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Yay!! Ink is my friend!!

I recently went out to buy a fixative for my drawings, so the graphite won't smudge, once I have finished the image. (Of course I haven't used it yet on any of the drawings - there is always room for improvement.) While I was at the artshop (very dangerous place for someone like me) I noticed a display of inks... And I thought, "I think I will buy some of that too... And some brushes just for that, so I don't mix them with my watercolour-brushes..... And some special paper too!!" So, many art-supplies richer and quite some Kroner poorer, I went home. This morning I finally had a chance to test the ink as a drawing-medium. I almost didn't go to work, I was so excited about it - and I certainly scared my co-workers being far too happy, even if the jobs I was given today were extremely boring! If any of you know my previous work, you will no doubt have noticed that the amount of detail I put in the drawings is increasing at a very steep rate - and I am quite pleased with my progress with graphite. But I had begun to feel like I was loosing something, that you sometimes get from things being kept simple. I love to have flowing lines that move and make the object I am drawing moving. My precious Nerdanel drawing is an example of some of the early work, that I was beginning to miss. However I could feel that my new knowledge of how graphite could be used, wouldn't make it easy for me to go back. BUT it seems that ink will! Yay!! And it is a much, much faster medium to work with than graphite.. (also more unforgiving, but so far I can live with that). Below are some exercises I was doing to get a feel for the how the ink worked with me - and some of them turned out quite nice, if I do say so myself. ;)

Male torso. (Or did you already notice that? ;) )

A young Remus Lupin

A determined Caranthir.

Yyyyaaaaaayyyy, I 'm so pleased I bought that ink!!! ;) :D Off to draw some more - there are birthday presents to be finished.

Have a nice time and I'll se you all again come september!

Still in the country - two lambs are still sick, but I think they are improving. And they are soooo cute! In fact I had to draw their little faces.. There are also some horse sketches under the cut - all of grazing horses, because that's all they want to do! :)

First week in the country

For those on the flist who don't know yet I'm currently taking care of my aunt's farm. She is away with her family on holiday for two weeks, and I'm staying in her house in the country looking after all the animals. There are 56 sheep, and one ram, a cat, a parrot, 6 roosters, 6 hens, 9 chickens, and 8 horses!! Now the first week here in the country has passed, and I feel like producing a list of the happenings!

It's certainly not boring, living in the country!

Study of muse

So I wanted to draw my muse, Caranthir.. He was apparently in a really foul mood that day, but consented to be drawn if he didn't have to act happy. So here he is, angry and dark:

I'm not completely satisfied, but I can't see what to change, so now it goes out there on the web..

Weird things meme...

I was tagged by [info]dawn_felagundto do a meme listing ten weird (and therefore likely to be embarrassing) things about myself.... Thank you very much Dawn! :D

These be the rules:

Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself himself or herself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts about themselves, as well as these directions. At the end you they must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

Phew, done... And I tag
[info]rhapsody11
[info]binkaslibrary

[info]gilpin25

Of course I am not forcing anyone, if for no other reason than it is a bit hard to do over the internet! :)
